On some systems, you will need to perform the following steps to make your rescue disk work:
a) Open the CONFIG.SYS file on your Rescue Disk
b) Find the line that contains "EMM386"
c) Change that entire line to the following: DEVICE=A:\EMM386.EXE /FRAME=NONE /DPMI=OFF /INCLUDE=b000-f000
Note that this solution should also work for EasyRecovery disks that won't boot initially.
I can't seem to boot from my Rescue Disk. Is there a way to make it work? (KB002091)
