Rescue disks are not compatible with NTFS partitions. Therefore, on all NT based systems (NT, 2000, XP) the program will detect the operating system and not install. If you are using DOS, Windows 95, 98, ME or FAT32 partitions only on your XP system, you can use the bootable CD as a rescue disk whenever you need it. However since there are no consumer NTFS drivers for MSDOS, you will not be able to use the rescue disk if the system has any NTFS partitions on a drive.
To confirm you do indeed have an NTFS partition, in 'My Computer', right-click your C drive or Windows boot drive and choose 'Properties' to view the partition's file system.
