Here are directions on how to determine whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows 8:

  1. On the Start screen, swipe up and select the “All apps” icon. If you have a mouse, right-click anywhere on the Start screen and then click the “All apps” option.
  2. While on the Apps screen, swipe or scroll to the right and find the Windows System category.
  3. Select or click the “Control Panel” icon under the Windows System category.
  4. With the Control Panel open, select or click the “System and Security” option.
  5. With the “System and Security” window open, select or click on “System”.

Under the System section, the “System type:” will show whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows.
