PowerDesk will keep the original file extension when you rename the file for file extensions which are normally hidden in Windows Explorer (associated file types). You can turn this behavior off in PowerDesk in OPTIONS->PREFERENCES->GENERAL SETTINGS and un-checking 'Keep the file extension when renaming a file whose type is hidden'.
